Wrestling with God. Genesis 32:22-30
I was reminded today while we were taking communion of my brokenness. As I took the bread (cracker), it broke into two. Then when I took the cup, it cracked and almost spilled.
How appropriate for God to use these two images to remind me of how broken I am. That I am a sinner who left on his own would destroy himself. Yet it was in this state that God reached down and redeemed me. He pulled me off the train headed straight for hell so I could have eternal life with Him.
That is what we remember when we take communion. When He intervened and pulled us off that train.
And even though my sin will try to pull me back down, God is so much greater. Nothing can tear me away from His love and grace.
Remember that Calvin and press forward.
